Who we are

Mission Statement
Through education, advocacy, and stewardship SOHO's mission is to preserve, promote and support preservation of the architectural, cultural and historical links and landmarks that contribute to the community identity, depth and character of our region.

Since 1969, Save Our Heritage Organisation (SOHO), a nonprofit organization has led the community as a powerful catalyst for preservation by raising awareness and appreciation of our region's architectural and cultural heritage. All donations to SOHO support our mission of preservation.

SOHO operates and oversees the property at the corner of San Diego Avenue & Harney Street in Old Town San Diego for the County of San Diego, which includes

  • The Whaley House Museum
  • The offices of SOHO in the Derby-Pendleton House, built in 1850
  • The SOHO Museum Shop in the Verna House, built c.1872
  • The two false front buildings, built c. 1870, which house the New Orleans Creole Cafe, run by owners Mark Bihm and Humberto Villegas.
SOHO also operates the Old Adobe Chapel at 3963 Conde Street in Old Town San Diego for the City of San Diego.
